Gotta New Farm Hand to Help With Chores....

Got my wife trained in on "her" new tractor this last weekend. Gave her the manual and she caught on real quick. She went solo and mowed her first food plot and did great. We mowed about a 1-2 acre plot and got about 50 hens out of it.

I told her I did not expect her to have to help if she didn't like it but she seemed to have fun and said she enjoyed it.

I see 2 good things, good help:thumbsup: and 50 hens or 3 good things actually, your food plots did the job, made it all the way to "new Food" bountiful time for the birds. Got plenty of nesting areas for all those hens.

Yep, saw cans, redheads, ringneck ducks, scaup, gadwall, mallards, bufflehead. shovelers. Better variety in spring than fall it seems like. Tons of water in the sloughs. Most I have ever seen.

And yes MNMT, finally got some good acres for them hens to nest in. adjacent 30 acres of CRP for one. Planting another 40 acres on other side in the next few weeks.

UGUIDE, You sure enough got good things going out there.

U ain'ta a kiddin der hank! I got annuder 16 acres of trees going in and 16 acres of quial buffers to boot!

The master plan is almost complete. Need to add a shelterbelt on west farm and a few more field windbreaks and that should do it.

Then sit back and watch the wildlife production.

The Mrs. and I were scouting out fields on the east farm and managed to bump about 40 whitetails.

Have you had your beers yet for calving recovery?

Except for a few "escapees" The yearlings are gone.
Today I go to the auction, pick up the check, hand it over to the Wife. All indications of a years works goes to the bank.
I'll stick $$ some in the Fall adventures fund however.:)
The cold beer went so well, gonna be a repeat today.

Man! wouldn't that be cool to have some Bob Whites around.

I believe UGUIDE already has a population of Quail on the farm. Webguy shot one last year if I am not mistaken. There is also a poplation in southern Tripp County but only a very few people know where.

Now I know who's making the BIG BUCKS:) New tractor how many horse does it have? Have fun with all those projects. Sounds like the pheasant have found heaven:D

I have not seen any of those quail this spring yet. Last one I saw was on New Years and he busted out of food plot behind building. The saga continues......

It would be cool to see you pull off an established group of sustainable quail. Now that would give hope for ND and MN. I know a guy in WI that has some.

I didn't know bob birds lived that far north until I read "A Sand County Almanac". It seems Wisconsin and other northern states used to have decent quail pops.
