I owe a pair of Goretex type waterproof pants for hunting in wet grass or snow, they are awesome. I was looking on a national stores web site (Cabela's) at Goretex jackets for pheasant hunting. Any thoughts? Anybody use them, advantages, disadvantages?

You would be warm and fit in at a group tailgate photo op in such garb.
There could be advantage and disadvantage in either.

:cheers:I've hunted in Cabela's upland jacket and bibs with Gortex for the last 6 years and love it. Keeps me dry and warm, I am a real believer when it comes to Gortex. I will not buy work boots that do not have Gortex, as I am in the mud and water every day. IMO no other waterproofing works as well as Gortex.

Unless you are hunting in the rain there is no need for a Gortex jacket while pheasant hunting. Pants and boots with Gortex will help keep you dry when hunting wet grass, ect. but in my experience Gortex does not breathe as they say and if you sweat a lot you will be soaked from the inside out. I prefer clothing that breathes.
