Looking for a gift for a friend for his birthday. I believe he would like one of the calls I mentioned. He likes calls that are proven calls with a reputation. Myself, just give me a OLT 800 and I'm good to go. I have a $150 Zink and you have to keep in practice with it constantly or it's worthless as burnt gun powder.

Thanks for the offer/info guys. I'll keep it in mind

I've got a used Strait Meat Honker, Black barrel w/ Ivory Insert.... if ur interested.

You have a PM Spence

AS most short reed goose calls are the same in side "guts" buy the one you like the looks of and have it "tuned" to the way you call.

Wrong Answer.... Short Reed goose calls all blow a little different. Pick up a Money Maker and try and blow it just like a SMH. Not gonna happen.

The guy is starting out! I was just trying to help him so he doesint have to buy a bunch of calls to find this out. Yes you can change the type of guts also but if their close to the same length you can tune them the same.

I'm still going to disagree.... that's terrible logic to pick a goose call. lol

They all run different, some are easier to blow than others, some use more/less air, backpressure etc...

But it's purdy!! Because I strive to look damn good in the Marsh!

I understand that you said buy the one you like the "LOOKS" of.... and thats terrible logic to pick a goose call.

I guess we will just agree to disagree on this subject. You can tune to a certin extent, but there are calls that just flat have more range than others. Some will take more air than others regardless of how you tune them. Tuning a call more or les changes the pitch, and most shouldn't even begin to toy with tuning a short reed unless they know what they are doing.

Who's just starting out?
