Good early news

Had local PF member checking up on if I left my food plot in as they provided the seed and shared the cost. He emailed me to let me know that while checking my food plot he flushed 40 plus pheasants--all hens, this was in the area where we had almost zero hunting success last fall. I don't know where they came from but it is good news for this upcoming nesting season:thumbsup::10sign:

Great to hear!!! I have a feeling alot of people are going to be saying the same thing with this easy winter we had! :10sign:

Thats great news Jim..... it was the winter that never was!......

but seriously, Pheasants Forever is checking up to see if you left your food plot in?

Yep and here is why--I posted this under the habitat section recently

I'm so mad I don't even know how to begin. I don't know all the details but a Pheasants Forever Chapter that gave landowners $175.00 to plant 5 acre food plots, will now only do $70 for a 2 acre plot and "NO CORN".

Seems that people last year took the money--planted corn--then instead of leaving it as a food plot -- it got harvested--I gues the formula of 100 bushels an acre X 5 X $6 a bushel was just to much to pass up--screw the wildlife and to bad Pheasnats Forever Chapter--thank-you every much for the easy profit you fools.

I JUST CALL IT GREED--for those that did this --you know who you are and I doubt you give a damm-- I just hope it not someone I know--I have few friends and I don't like losing any--but this would be it.

:( .........Theft by swindle I would call that, punishable by law

Well it's good, but can it be better $ wise. 1, is it volenteers that check your plot? 2 could they just not provide a certain amount of seed instead of the cash? Providing the seed would eliminate this, and also keep people from having to go check all the plots.
What else would you do with the seed besides plant it? I don't think any one would buy it. So you have little use for it but to plant it.

It's not the planting of the corn which was the problem. It's the fact they cut it and sold it to the elevator where the rub comes in. About 3000.00 of profit from PF provided seed, with no intended wildlife value. With the size of these operations I wouldn't rule out accident, if it was custom harvested for an absentee landlord, those guys don't like to turn their equipment. I would base my decision on the attitude of the responsible party when confronted. Knowing all the while there is an element of our society in all walks of life who push the limits to see what they can get away with.

I don't know all the details but the PF chapter now does less acerage and less support and does not do CORN because of this--so those of us who do it right suffer and worse of all the wildlife suffers most. I guess the one thing that worked in wildlifes favor was the really open warm winter we had.

I guess its human nature that some people just can't help but take advantage of things like this, I do wonder what the trip point was in cheap profit $5.00 or more--LOL:confused:
