I picked up the Go pro hero, and took it back a few days later. Had to install a update that was beyond me to get the videos from the wifes computer.
I wanted it for bow hunting and they didn't have a real good mounting system for the way I wanted to use it. And no view finder, you just kind of wing it with these things.
The remote wasn't real reliable and I had to keep checking if it was on.

I know a guy that mounted one on his lead bear hound, he loves his.

I see Garmin has one called the VIRB that you can run with the remote from one of their GPS collar systems. They also have a view finder, think I'm going to check this system out.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Seen some videos that looked like fish eye mode and don't want that. Ive heard that the narrow is best for hunting.

I have one of the older Hero 2s. Pretty easy to use and getting to see your hunts and dog work later is great.

I narrow the Field Of View setting so that you can see the dogs and birds better at a distance.

Here are a few of mine.

In that first video, second quail does that setter have the tip of its tail painted red or orange? ? Not sure if its the background, or what im seeing.

I would want a remote viewer strapped to my wrist so I could have more control of the field of view. I'm going to get something like the GoPro in another year or so (after my pup has it together enough that I can show her off!)

No, we have a fair amount of plum thickets around here, its some of the best quail cover there is, but it will make the dogs tails bleed at times.

hey Steve...I have an "original" Go Pro Hero..the first one that came out.....I have never used it.....is it worth even messing with or should I get a newer generation model

You can view it in real time through the GoPro app. I use it to make sure I have the camera aimed right.

Cool video of the crow hunt--the falcon sure had to work at it :coolpics:
