No, they are not always that close. They have been on point 100 or 150 yards away but usually not much more than that. Sometimes they range out more if we are walking over a cut crop field.
The birds could be from last year or last month. The rooster I've been seeing is from last year for sure.
Connor's position is a head scratcher. He's a lanky 78 pounds but he is the starting center on the JV (4th and 5th graders) team that only has about five 5th graders. They needed somebody who can snap the ball back. He's the starting outside linebacker on defense but he will alternate plays while on D. He is having fun which is the most important thing. It will be a tough first game for his team.
