Been hunting over dogs along time but no farming means no quail so now I have to travel to Kansas and SD to hunt wild birds. I keep my dog and gun in shape at Royal Flush Game Preserve in Pulaski TN. My GSP is 16 months old and I trained her my self. We took her first Pheasant last year when she was 9 months old. Looking forward to a great season with her this year.

For most all upland birds I shoot my A5 20ga and sometimes I will shoot my old Fulton 16 ga sxs. For the dove I like to shoot my Brownings either the BPS in 12 or my old 1954 Double Auto.

I'm a 20 gauge Purist, so I concur the 20 is the one for upland game. Welcome to UPH, I hope to see you here often. I like the part in your write-up where you say "your pup got her first pheasant at 9 Months. I say " the younger they get on birds the better." The more wild birds the better.---Bob

What vicinity in GA. I have a brother in Marietta. We meet up in SD every fall for at least 5 days of chasing the wily ringneck. We grew up in SE SD and we still have family there!
