Garmin Alpha 300 Lanyard

I don’t have the GA300. However, I notice that it comes with a lanyard similar to what my sport dog came with .

I upgraded to a heavy hauler lanyard just this week that has a clip for my transmitter and my whistle.

If the clip won’t fit in the recess for the GA300, you may be able to put a small split ring on it and then clip the lanyard to the split ring.

Also, the jacket I wear has a handy breast pocket over my heart that opens to the side and i slip the transmitter in the pocket to keep it from dangling.

It is very similar to the call pockets on a drake waterfowling pullover

Depending on what kind of vest you use, you can try what I do.

I use the gear lanyard attached in the pic and have that clipped through a D-ring on my vest and then have it stuck into one of the shell pouches (that I don't use for shells). This keeps it from bouncing around and keeps it off my neck. I like that it quick detaches as well so I can remove it easily when I'm home or need to charge it.

Years ago I lost the handheld to my tritonics. Unknown to me a trip and fall over a stick launched it out of my vest pocket. Luckily I was able to backtrack and find it. So since I've been a freak about securing them. Recently I bought the 300. I have a strap vest. I have one of the pyke holders and 1 of the lanyards munster927 showed. Plus have a loop of 550 cord through the 300 and a carabineer hooked to vest. So I'm redundant on the connection to the vest. Around the yard I bought the belt clip from Garmin and carry it that way.

I have redundant doubled up paracord on my 550 plus, both long enough I can use around my neck for short jaunts. On all day hunts I loop them through a loop on my strap vest and rest it in a pocket.

I don’t have the GA300 either, but I totally get what you mean about the lanyard. I use something similar with my sport dog setup, and I recently swapped to a heavier-duty lanyard that clips both my transmitter and a whistle—super handy. Also, for anyone who’s having trouble with the clip not fitting into the GA300’s recess, I’ve used a small split ring before, and it works like a charm. Speaking of accessories, I’ve been fascinated by these super clone watches lately—Rolex Super Clone models to be exact. I know it’s a bit off-topic, but the craftsmanship is impressive for the price. It’s like finding the perfect gear for your outdoor adventures, just a different kind of accessory!

I bought one of THESE from Front Range Gun Dog. It hangs from the D-ring on the right side of my WingWorks vest. I carry a Garmin 200i and this is the third year I have used it and it shows no wear. It’s rock solid secure and I can lift it up and see where my dogs are instantly without digging in a pocket or having something around my neck. The weight is supported by the belt and not on my neck or off a shoulder strap.

I don't like the neck rubbing either. I use two of these retractable tethers for the two handhelds I take into the field. They clip onto D rings on my vest and the handhelds are tucked into the front openings of my vest's game pouch, so they don't flop around.

This is what I ended up using, along with Garmin's included clip to attach to my Final Rise vest. To be honest, ended up just using mostly my watch anyways, so it pretty much always just stayed attached to my vest.

I have been using one of them since 2021 and the other since 2023, and no issues yet. This is a good reminder for me to buy a spare.

a bit off-topic, but i seem to remember watching a video on youtube of a guy hunting with his dog and the guy's watch was apparently synced to a gps e-collar that told him how far and what direction the dog was from him. it seemed much more convenient to look at the wrist watch instead of holding the collar tranmsitter to look at the screen

are any you familiar with this, and what gps collars can be synced up with a smart watch?

thanks in advance

Garmin tracking collars will sync with Garmin Instinct and Fenix watches. I have this ability as I have both an Instinct and a Fenix watch but it’s hard to see the small characters on the Watch face. I used it for a few years until my vision deteriorated. I know a lot of guys use this and it works very well if you can see the watch face while you are hunting.

You’re actually right on topic! As Airmedic stated, it’s Garmins line of dog collars and watches. I found myself using the watch more than I expected and pretty much the collar receiver just stayed hooked on my vest.

Hope this helps!

Does the watch have the same problem as the handheld, where they put "<Dog's name> is on point" over the information showing how far away the dog is for about 5 seconds? I have a watch, but haven't taken it out of the box yet.
