From Shell Burner to Shooting Clinic

Above pictures are of my young hunting Buddy early in his hunting career when he got the nickname shell -burner ,I had him set up to my right on a dove waterhole shoot and when I checked on him he had a big pile of spent shells and very few dove .

Fast forward to this last weekend youth Upland season and he shot his limit of roosters before 10 am and all the birds where dead in the air . I think he went 4 for 5 shots .

It was good to get out and watch good dog work good wingshooting and the great outdoors .
Anybody else get out for youth season .?

Lol, shell burner. I can remember my 2 sons taking out a new bricks of .22 and going thru the whole thing. Now both are grown and married and both are some of the best shotgun shooters in the area. They were practicing safety and gun handling at a young age and finally about 15 yrs ago got into the skeet and sporting clays games and excelled quickly. I'm very proud of both of them for their hard work and dedication to the shotgun shooting world and they are excellent wingshooters who are continually putting the butt whooping on ole dad in the pheasant fields and grouse prairies of S.D. What great times and memories.

Awesome, my son's take me hunting now. Enjoy

It's very important to start kids out at a young age. I started at 9 years old.
