Fresh snow-better success

Check out the picture posted by hen, hen,Rooster on the thread Losing Birds. He and I hooked up Wednesday for a great hunt in Eastern CO. The first pass through the field at -10 while wearing ski goggles was a first for us both-actually only my fingers got cold. After that first pass, and two birds for hen,hen the weather was fine. He didn't mention that each of his three birds took only one shell. We survived with no frostbite, on us or our three labs. It was hen, hen's first hunt in fresh snow and I think he's hooked. We had two limits, all six retrieved by our labs (sorry Roger about Cody taking that one away from Chance), no lost birds, and my first ever Colorado limit. My 9 month old pup got a solo retrieve while I had him out solo after hen,hen had his limit. With three labs working, little Logan is usually odd dog out on the retrieves. We had a very nice lady let us hunt a cedar belt right next to her house (one in the bag) and hen, hen got his first 2009 cornfield rooster across the street. It was great fun watching the dogs root the birds out of deep cover but I think I might have to assume Roger's hen,hen handle as my labs seemed to be specializing in them. We had a great time and met each other through this forum.

Here's a picture hen,hen (Roger) took of me with Logan (9 mo) & Cody (10 yr)-that's me on the left. We ran out of time to get one of both of us in our goggle mode. Now if I can just remember to put the goggles back in my ski bag.

Nice Pic... I cannot wait... I am leaving tomorrow evening to go for the weekend... Hope the snow is decent out west

Nice work! I've hunted in bitter cold temps like that before. It's cold, but a big rooster jumping up in front of you sure seems to warm you quickly!
