2023 was the hottest September on record...until 2024, which is now the hottest AND driest September on record. I did not record any measureable rain the entire month. And there is none in the 7 day forecast.
As far as I can see, temps look above normal. Average this time of year is 68 degrees. I still see plenty of 70's. Hopefully we are at least done with the 80's but man, this is ugly. Hot and dry is not good for bird hunting. Dogs can't scent as well and the heat saps their energy quicker. We need a monsoon of rain again. Amazing how we went from a surplus of rain to flash drought.
I do not intent to hunt in October. Think I'll just keep fishing instead.
