Forecast for the Opener

Early forecast for the Opener where we hunt looks like a high in the mid to upper 60s and partly cloudy. Early still, and that could always change, but that’s warm for the dog and me - hoping for cooler weather! We would probably just hunt the morning if that’s the weather on the Opener. Thoughts from others?
 
Twin Cities has 17 days over 80F with two days to go (both are forecasted to be above 80F). Trees are way behind turning colors. That said the forming drought should speed up harvest.
 
To your original question, 60s for pheasant opener is sort of cool to me. Years past it seemes opener is always in the 70s, few times it's been in the low 80s. So 60s will seem "cool" compared to other years.

Half of montana has been blazing hot all September, and October!Hot and dry.
 
2023 was the hottest September on record...until 2024, which is now the hottest AND driest September on record. I did not record any measureable rain the entire month. And there is none in the 7 day forecast.

As far as I can see, temps look above normal. Average this time of year is 68 degrees. I still see plenty of 70's. Hopefully we are at least done with the 80's but man, this is ugly. Hot and dry is not good for bird hunting. Dogs can't scent as well and the heat saps their energy quicker. We need a monsoon of rain again. Amazing how we went from a surplus of rain to flash drought.

I do not intent to hunt in October. Think I'll just keep fishing instead.

I'll probably golf and work on my 65 gto. 70s is too hot.
