FOOTBALL or FEZANTS

Decided on pheasants of course. Went out to Dighton and Cimmaron this past weekend for some more of those wiley Pheasants. They did not disapoint me. Temps got up into the middle to upper 50's, so it made it a little tougher. Saw good numbers of birds in both areas, flushing wild a few times. I was getting disapointed with my dog not throwing any points, but I guess they were just roaming to far out in front. Sat. afternoon we hit a grassy draw with some small trees and she locked up beautifully. My brother crept in and BAM, a covey of 25 quail went every direction possible except straight down. She locked up agian, this time on a single and down it went.Sunday she locked up, but she quite was'nt sure, because I noticed her tail moving a liitle bit , so I was'nt sure. Then the rooster exploded 6 feet off her nose and I wiffed big time. Those points made me feel a little better. I ended the weekend with 4 roosters and a quail and some good times afield with friends and dogs.

Sounds like a great trip, glad you had a good outing with your friends and dogs.......Bob

I picked pheasants as well. It is a funny thing but a couple of nice points on some skulking roosters sure does lessen the frustrations of the runners and those that choose to flush in the distance.

Glad you got into them.

I picked both and got just that! Had some nice dog work and some less than perfect shooting, but to finish the weekend I was 3 for 3. I'm a bit shocked by that, but I'm sure it's temporary:)

Pheasants it is!

I wish the chiefs would have won to keep them weekend warriors out of the fields, but the super bowl and playoffs should minimize the competition for wiha. Now if the rain can hold off I might get to see a rooster again before the end of the season.

If you sit at home there is no way you can

Kick'em up:)
