Flowers at the Ponderosa (pic heavy)

I don't know what type of quail hatch we will have but I did have a pair in the garden yesterday. I left some of my dwarfed sweet corn in the garden for the birds and they found it. I suppose they are still trying to hatch a brood.

Landscape here is turning a manila yellow. Could sure use a good soaking rain about now. Looked back on the calendar and it has been about five weeks since the last decent rainfall.

Birds are doing well though. Seeing some quail, pheasant and turkey hatches. Haven't spotted any lesser prairie chicken hatches yet. The deer are putting on some bone now too. Have a couple little mulie bucks hanging around, which is nice to see. Now if those nasty elk would show up again.

Nice report Maynard, other than the dry conditions. It's been missing us here as well. Raining all around me but I'm in the hole again. Seeing a lot of fawns and their mommas. I have seen a couple of small bucks with cactus on their heads! They were just about to fork for the first time. Hunting buddy is seeing some brood. I haven't been out much early in the day. Need to change my pattern. I am tired of the heat. September is desired!!!
