Figured that I should invest some money into a first aid kit in case something were to happen to my dog. Anyone have any suggestions? I see places like Cabelas and Scheels sell kits. Anyone have any experience on which ones are worth the purchase or should a guy just make his own?

Go to a good pharmacy, and get
Rope to be able to collapse leg hold trap
2 or 3 ace bandages, 2 and 4 inch wide.
2 and 4 inch Self sticking tape, vetwrap.
Dozen telfa gauze pads
Good cling type gauze rolls, 2 and 4 inch
1 and 2 inch white bandage tape
Panty liners or baby diapers work well to temporarily cover large wounds
Splint material
Something to make a muzzle
Bandage scissors
Tweezers/thumb forceps
Neosporin ointment
Benadryl cream
Cortizone cream
Benadryl capsules/tablets
Chewable immodium
Chewable kaopectate
Artificial tear ointment
Artificial tears/Saline to rinse eyes
Styptic "pencil" for broken nail cautery
Telephone number of local veterinarian

I would add
Digital rectal thermometer
Claritin can be used in place of Benadryl 1 10mg tablet for 70 lbs canine.
I only mention this as Benadryl requires a much larger dose.
I also carry beta dyne to clean wounds
