Federal

And yes the 6 or 5 shot, I use both and they both work well. I use the 5s on windy days or a 2nd shot. If you get the beed on the bird they die. I find they let you guess less on Leeds in all winds. Less dropped legs, less cripples, less fly aways to die elsewhere. If you watch sales you can get them cheaper. Now is not sale time,LOL. Last ones I bought for 10 bucks a box. But I am running out now too. I will be shooting over 97 dogs this weekend, And I will have 1 1/4 oz 2 3/4" 1,500fps federal premiums in a 5 and 6 shot in my gun all day baby.

very well said agreed they get the job done!! It costs me close to 20 a box but i love them. I will tell you one thing for sure ive shot at lots of pheasants with other loads like fiocchi, kent, remington, and since i swithched to the federal 1500 fps shells i have killed more birds and lots less cripples for sure like springer said you hit them there dead.

The PS spread was 16 inches at 30 yards. What would the spread be on a standard load?

That is pretty tight. You may want to open up a choke some. Thats about the distance I start to pull up and shoot. I think you will find that you would do well to pattern the gun at 40 yards as well. At 40 my pattern is a little over 36 inches. And no big holes.

I just got home from pheasant hunting. I shot very well, no lost birds. Most all hit the ground dead. When I mixed the duck and pheasant hunt I used Prairie Storm #3's when just hunting pheasants high brass lead. Half the price of the PS's. Half the birds with the PS and half with the lead.
I'm impressed with the steel, the results were exactly the same as the lead.
I shoot a full choke and with my flushing pup the birds are usually not close shots.
