Feast or Famine!

After last Fridays feast (3 public land Roosters in an hour) I hit todays famine. Walked about 4 miles thru knee deep snow, cattails, willows, corn, slough grass, the whole works. We never seen a single bird, dog didnt act birdy in the least, we never even cut a fresh track. The both of us (dog and I) went home with our tails tucked.

Yep, that is why it is named "Hunting". Your title "Feast or Famine" is certainly correct. It happens all the time.........Bob

My hunting can be the same way. One week hit a spot and out the birds come. Next week, not a bird to be seen.

Same for me. Had 3 birds for the season before today. Today I cam home with a limit of 4 roosters by 1:00. The first 3 WIHA's I hit only produced 7 flushes total. The fourth site was close to 60 flushes, maybe more and gave me 3 of my roosters. The snow started falling between my second and third bird. It looked like a bomb had hit the kleenex factory! Perfect! My 10 year old setter Flint(avatar) even got to point a bird and back several times. Still looks like a million bucks on point!!!

Yesterday I got one on a small private, then walked a good chunk of a public and never saw a track either. There was around 12 in the private, which was small, 3 acers, and tracks all over. Public land will get that way if they get hit enough.
