My daughter and I have been visiting about going out to the Family farm for youth season , between high school debate , cheer and her friends pretty tough to get on the calendar but we made it work.

Here she is taking a break with one of my newer recruits , the cedar planting wind break was likely done when she wasn't even walking yet .

Newest recruit7 month old pup , the moment of truth for trainer , coach , dog and new hunter . Bird comes up daughter picks out a bird gun goes to cheek and shoulder follows bird but no shot . In all the excitement safety not off no shot taken . Been there done that. A morning spent with my girls and a safe hunt and memories well worth it !!!

Beautiful

I LOVE it thanks for sharing as a father with two daughters I love to see daughters out hunting and fishing!! Unfortunately my girls love to fish but have never really enjoyed hunting

I love hunting with my Dad! Looking forward to tomorrow's Dad/Daughter hunting trip... he's taught me so much over the years.

My girls go out with me a couple of times a season-its hard to schedule at times with all that our lives demand of us but it sure is special when they get out with me!! I hope as they get older that it doesn't go away. My oldest is in high school ...already. I think it'll stick:) Good quality times!
Thanks for sharing! It does my heart some good to see these posts of dads with the kiddos.

No birds brought home this trip; those roosters are using all the tricks to get past the shotgun! The dog and I did unfortunately take out a raccoon... I ended up running into flooded cattails secondary to dog barking and the most terrible growling/screeching sounds I've ever heard. Left the shotgun on dry ground, slipped and fell a foot away from the dog/raccoon fight in the slew. I immediately began beating the coon with the back of my hunting boot while sitting, dog got on him again, I was able to get up and kick/stand on top of the coon prior to getting on top of his head and pushing it under the six inches of slew water that I initially was sitting in. Dog hunting vest, my brush pants and boots saved me from any bites and kept Obie from getting chewed up badly. Things did not end well for the coon... Dad found all this highly amusing since no obvious injury to the hunting team occurred. His first statement "I'm glad you drove Sarah, I wouldn't want that slew smell in my truck"

That has to be one of the funniest stories glad everyone is ok!

Sarah, I too livein Elk River and hunt with my daughter. Maybe we should do a dad/daughter hunt with you and your dad and my daughter and I! Send me a PM if interested and we can see if anything fits into our schedules.

Been there I had a tough time getting my son in the woods/fields to hunt as I was coaching/chasing him from rink to rink with travel hockey. The brief hunts we had built some great memories. Thanks for sharing and I like the JD color scheme trailer.

Bird season has been great. Had a lot of bird contacts here in Michigan during woodcock season and first part of grouse season. Grouse reopens tomorrow so looking forward to getting the pups out. My young setter is coming along. We also had a great first trip to SD as well, returning in December with my son while he is home from college.
