English setter lines

I’m trying to gather as much info on setters this year before I make a decision. Looking for a line or kennel that raises dogs for big country, have endurance, will live and hunt in a warmer environment for the most part. Any input is welcome, from what I’ve been around setters I like there hunting style, just lacking exposure to a lot of them.

We’re gonna have some big running EP pups coming this year. Just what I’ve seen shags are cover dogs (grouse woods) and don’t do well in the heat. Look at what wins at Ames every year. Just my opinion. I got a female you can come get right now for 2 grand and she is ready to hunt. Retrieves well naturally, looks good on her birds and easy to handle. In fact I have killed about 100 quail/ pheasant over her.

The only reason we won’t keep her is she is small and doesn’t fit in our breeding program.

Take a look at Berg Brothers Setters. Well regarded.
I don't have a setter but I would strongly consider Berg Brothers if I were to buy one. I like their breeding program and philosophy on hunting dogs, pedigrees etc., I think that some of it goes beyond setters and can be applied to other breeds and it had a big influence on me when I picked my last Vizsla pup.

Foot hunter on 80% quail in Texas nm and Oklahoma, yearly trips to sd or montana… the other 20 are obviously pheasant and some dusky grouse early season. 8o% public throughout the year on big marginal land, 7-10 miles a day

Find Kline Kennels on Facebook - he's in Texas (your profile says you live there) -- he sells started dogs and if you want a puppy he can probably connect you with someone more local to you unless of course you want to have a whole adventure and lots of expense in picking up a dog.

He always has a # of Setters.

I spelled Kline wrong --

Lookup Cline Strickland -- He is one in the same that makes Cline dogboxes and I believe has a custom fabrication business - weatherford tx wherever that is.
Yup I looked him up, they sell a little of everything. They are west of Dallas/fw
