Eating Mice?

I’ve heard that pheasants can eat mice and snakes and such, but didn’t really know that they would, until my dog caught this one today. DNR land stocked bird, but apparently it’s got some survival skills that it’s learning to eat what it can find.

Start packing a firearm, they have become carnivorous. Must have spit out the trap.

It was a stocked bird….. mouse was probably crawling down his throat to get the feed in his crop!!

I like to examine the crops from roosters to get an idea what they are feeding on and give me an edge. It was Kansas, acorns.
6-7 in the crop. Looked like a goiter. Not a lot of timber around either.
