E-Collar recommendations

I know we have had other discussions about e-collars but I would like a recommendation for my friend. He just purchased a Springer Spaniel. He has asked me about what type of collar I run and I have given him my recommendation, but I run Golden's and I run a two collar system. My question is what would you guys recommend for him. He has a Springer and he will never run two dogs at a time. I am looking for recommendations for him on brand, features, sizes of collar for smaller dog, etc. Thanks in advance for the help!

Really like my Dogtra one collar system for my Brit. Has vibrate, nick, and steady e modes with the e adjustable by dial as degree of persuasion, distance, or battery charge varies. Have had no problems or need of repairs. It does not emit any sounds. I might add that I once had a D.T. Systems collar which had problems.

Tri-tronics works well for me, and for the two dogs I used it on over the last 10 years, and various other house-guest dogs I've had over the years.

But I didn't shop around, so I can't offer a comparison for you.

Best of luck.

Tri-tronics - Top notch

Dogtra - Top notch - Personally I have had a Dogtra 2 collar setup for 8 years and only thing that has been done is battery replacement and that was just last year.

Tri-Tronics and Dogtra probably have the best reputation.

SportDog - been around for awhile as well
DT Systems - Not as well known, but heard very good things about their quality.

Look at all of them and find the features you want or need and the price range your looking for. They will vary from brand to brand.

I've used the "SportDog" by Tritronics for years. It's simple to use, for one dog, and relatively inexpensive. I bought a holster for the sending unit that is sewn to my shooting vest - this keeps the unit from bouncing around and getting caught on fences et al.

I have a Dogtra 1900 series one dog E-collar that I really like. The battery life is excellent and I really like the vibration feature. Vibration is all I usually ever need to get the attention of my ESS. It gets excellent reviews online from others also.

I've an Tri's, Dogtra's & SportDog's. I only use SportDog's now; unlike the others, they have never failed me.
