E-Collar at 7 months??

Thats earlier than I would start using and ecollar.
But is sounds like you are doing OK with it. Just be sure the pup understands the commands.

Good luck.

A piece of advice would be use a command before a stim. I use the command "Listen" then if he doesn't obey I give stim. That way without a collar I still have command and he thinks I can still stim him if he doesn't listen. Then you can transition away from using stim at all hopefully.

Around the yard and in the neighborhood, without distractions, dogs usually do a good job of obeying come or here.

On a running pheasant, a different story.

Come, here, and/or the whistle can save a dog's life if pursuing a bird that decides to run over a nearby highway!

E-collars are a very important tool, especially when the dog decides to not hear. My dog wears the collar often and gets the tune when not listening to me and a little jolt thereafter when he continues to be a hard head and not respond. Males do that!

I've had the collar on him since 5 month's of age - it works well!

Just my experience working with an aggressive male.

I started at 5 months also with my pup and it worked great! As of right now I usually have to nick her 2-3 times a season otherwise it's all tone. I agree that when training with a collar to use the tone/vibrate function before you nick them. That way they associate the two together. Now when I hit her with the tone she checks back with me 99% of the time! Great tool to have. Especially around highways and busy roads!

I put one on my Brittany at 6 mos. because he chased deer when I took him afield before his first season. He always came back - when he was ready, after being gone for 20 minutes. The collar solved the problem quickly and permanently.
