Drought worsens in South Dakota

She's a dry one Onpoint to be sure. Really good chance of some significant rain for the southern part of the state this weekend.

I am not sure how the drought affects birds that made it thru the summer. I think the d1-2 areas on the map were most favorable for brood rearing as they were not in trouble as early as the southern regions were.

Again this suggests why the bird counts were up in the northen parts of state and why the EHD was so bad in western and south central counties.

Got a report

Talked to my brother-in-law last night that lives in Pierre. He said he sees all kinds of birds, but their sticking close to water. I'll have a new report next week after the resident hunt this weekend. It sounds like stay in the corn and sunflowers close to stock damns.
