Dove results and pheasant scout

Finally got to get out for some serious shooting this morning. Ended up with 9 each for me and my buddy. A lot of good retrieves for my shorthair Katy and his hard mouthed lab Sugar.

His sons went back to the same pond tonight with a MOJO and limited in an hour or so he said.

What I meant when hunting for doves, I would hear the roosters cackling and the hens clucking all around me when sitting in the sunflower field, see a bird fly every once in a while, but yeah for the most part the birds in the Pratt area have left (most on a Carnival cruise), so no need to hunt there :). It did look a little more encouraging than what I expected (I was glad to see some chicks).

Hotrod-
No worries, kind of an inside joke between KB and some others to not publicly give any positive reports on the open forum this year, to prevent the night before rainy day hunters from getting all the good spots. All in fun. Glad to hear there are at least a few birds out there still.

Cheesy,

Congrats on finally getting out and getting that shooting shoulder broke in for the fall:cheers: I'm also happy to hear there are a few in the area. I probably should've got out of bed this morning:rolleyes:

not sure what all the trouble is with the cycle tube boots

first- you get a motorcyle tube- 4/00-4/50 X18
you cut 4 11" pieces- slip it over the dogs foot and double it back over enough so you can lay a layer of "quality" duct tape arround the top- you don't tape the boot to the dogs leg

never had a bit of trouble- and it's my go to boots- but my dogs feet sweat- meaning- when I remove the cycle tubes their feet are wet

I prefer the nylon dog boots for LCS

I think I understand and I appreciate that tip, but I want to know if you double the tube up on top of the foot or on the bottom to make a thicker "sole" on the boot?

How old were the "chicks"? Over 18 I hope...

Actually, if you would just PM me with the GPS coordinates I will check it out for you on opening day. There would be no need for you to get your hands dirty. If the hunting is real good I will be happy to clean out some of the pesky roosters for you. Now that I am on the unemployed rolls I should have plenty of times to do favors for fellow hunters.
