Ok who shoots a side by side. I'll go first. I shoot a couple of A.H. Fox Sterlinworths, 16 ga. Both Philly guns. My Grouse gun is 26", choked cyl, imp cyl. About 5 1/2 pounds, very fast gun. My other Fox has 28", choked Imp, mod. I use a Beretta 686 12 ga. for Roosters, 28" barrels.

Nice guns! I shoot sxs's for anything smaller than a wild PHEZ. I don't care for sxs's above a 20 just because I have slimmer faster o/u 16s. I do have a nice model B 16 with 26" barrels that shoots good but bulky to me. These are my favorite 20's in order
1st - American imports (Ugartechea falcon) 5.7 lbs Imp. cyl barrels. Very fast but chokes a little more open than I prefer.
2nd- Ithaca skb 100 6.2 lbs. 28 " barrels Imp. Mod. Very good shooter
3rd. 28 gauge Ugartechea 5.75 lbs. 28" mod. full. very good gun. was my full time quail gun until shells got crazy high.
4th c.z. bobwhite g2. 6.25 lbs. 28" good gun except point of impact is slightly off. I still turkey hunt with it because I can use 2.75 7.5 shot for 0-25 yards. 3" out to 40 yds.

My Precious: 1963 mfd AYA MAtador II, 20ga, 26inch barrels vent rib, SST, , imp cyl and mod; had it since 1970 and love it.
Old Faithful, Stevens 5100 12ga, 28 inch barrels, mod and full, for longr shots with pheasants, some ducks, and late seaon upland game.

back in 2007, my boss gave me a stoeger "uplander combo" after one of our clients had given it to him. he decided he's rather have a benelli auto loader so he gave me the stoeger. it has an english stock with a set of 28 ga. barrels and a set of 20ga. barrels...

I make a point to carry it with me whenever i travel to SD for pheasant.

Ithaca 200E, 12 gauge, 26". Spent almost as much as the price of the gun getting it bent and tubed and installing a kick-ez. It has served me well for 10+ years. Someday I'll buy something else, probably 28" instead of 26".

Just sold a Fox A grade 16ga...only gun I ever made money on...should have asked for more! LOL Would have liked to keep it but it had a POW grip and these days all I can shoot are straight grip guns...big fat hands.
CSMC RBL-16. 6lb 2oz.
CSMC RBL-28. 5lb 12oz. 30in barrels.
Stevens 311 16ga. may open the chokes to shoot steel.
Considering a F.A.I.R. Iside 20ga. I here about a lot of satisfied customers.
Looking for a 10ga. or 12ga. @ +9lbs for duck hunting.

Rogue, How do u like the RBL's?

I ordered the 16ga w/o the changeable stock/butt pad that's why it's one of the lightest RBL-16ga you'll find...even with the exhibition grade wood. The only detractor to the gun is the large wrist on the straight grip. Personally, I don't find it an issue while pheasant hunting as I carry the gun horizontally, which distributes the weight between my hands.

Now the RBL-28 is an absolute wand! Straight stocked, slender wrist, under 6lbs., and 30in barrels give it a slight weight forward balance. Even with the longer barrels I think its the perfect grouse/woodcock gun. I can carry it one handed all day long in the woods. Even though people will say they want shorter barrels for "woods" guns, any time I've hit a branch with the barrels it's usually been closer to my forward hand.

I bought new production sxs's as I'm not an expert on the older sxs's and didn't want to get stuck with haven't to drop big money with a gunsmith to make it shootable. Now, if I were looking for a new production sxs today, the FAIR, Iside is getting a lot of good reviews...at half the price of what the RBL's were 15yrs ago. In fifty hunting seasons, I've never taken a 20ga into the field! I may have to correct that with an Iside 20ga.

Rogue, It is not expensive to have old gun's stock bent to modern dimensions. I had my Grouse gun's stock bent. It too is very light and fast, oh so fast.

I shoot nothing but a SxS. My favorite is the single and the gun in the middle of the three. It is a Thomas’s W. Perkes 12b built in London sometime between 1874 and 1885. The other two are LC Smtih guns. The right is a 1905 00 grade built in 1905. The left is a 1944 Field in 16b.

I have a 1938 LC Smith field grade 16 ga that is use at times. I dont seem to shoot SXS's as well as I shoot an o/u. I also have a browning bss 12 ga.

I have 3 Uggie 16’s, an Uggie 28, and an Uggie 12, the last one a sidelock from ‘57, the rest box locks; 2 AYA 20 gauges, a #4/53 and a #2; a Fox sterlingworth 16 gauge from ‘28; and a Parker repro 28 gauge with 28” barrels, DT, and PG stock. I shoot my Uggie 28 gauge a lot and my AYA 4/53 20 gauge a lot…working others into the line up as I can.
