At some point there was a discussion about field trials, but I can't seem to find the thread...

Anyway, I was thinking somebody posted about a field trail in Eskridge that was coming up in March. If you know when it is or any info, could you please post it? I have never been to one before, and I would like to see one. Thanks.

Or if you know of any others coming up, I guess you could post that too.

Toad, that was me.

March 3-4 (but probably just on the third) is the one in Eskridge.

I'll be at that one for sure.
They will have a derby, gundog and shooting dog stake.
The derby is for younger dogs, but older then puppies. The gun dog stake is for most hunting dog types, dogs only have to be broke to flush. (Rather, judgement ceases at the flush) Shooting dogs have to be broke all the way through the flush.
If you want information on entering and such, or anything like that, let me know and I can help you out.
There is a Horseback trial in Onaga that I MIGHT be at. I haven't decided yet, and would have to round up a horse.
March 31st there is one in Havensville, I will be there too.
April 21st there is one in Madison and April 28th there is one Tonganoxie.

It stinks that they don't have a puppy stake at Eskridge. I would have definitely run Indy in it. But I guess I could run him as a derby at 9 months. The first trial with him will be a train wreck anyway :(
But I bet he does better than Ace did in his first trial, which was a head on collision train wreck :D

Thanks VJohn, I was afraid that was the date.:( If you could get me an address of where to go, that would be great! I don't plan on entering, just spectating. It is already a busy day, but I might be able to take the girls out in the morning to watch for a bit. CATS play at 12:30 too.

I'm working on getting directions, it's one of those deals where I could drive there but don't know the actual road names, if that makes sense?

Let me know when you are going to go and I'll try to be there.
I'll post directions here when I get them.

If coming from Manhattan area take I70 east to Keene Eskridge road (Can't remember the Exit number offhand..) Go south to K4 highway follow sign west onto K4 approximately 2 miles to the next sign which is Bradford. Go south on Bradford 2 1/2 miles you'll see camp entrance on right.
Its on the top of a hill, on a dirt road, kinda rough road...

Let me know when abouts you are going to be there and I'll tryto be there too at that time...

Got any more info on the Madison trial? I might be interested in watching that one.

I will try to find out some more.

I haven't been to that one, it's been going for a few years...

I'll see what I can find out and let you know.

I'm thinking late morning, like around 9:30-10:00. I'll probably have one or both of the kiddos.

There are dogs running all the time, right?

The shooting dogs will probably be running at that time, then the Derby and then the Gun dog.

Setternut will probably be running his dog in the derby.

There will be dogs running then, I will know more about when I'm going to be there thursday.

I signed Indy up to run Derby. At 9 months he may be a little on the young side. So it may be a train wreck ;)

Did you go watch any of the trial?
John won the Gundog stake with his Riley dog, again :D
Congrats John.

No.:( I really wanted to go see it for a little bit, but I only had a small window of opportunity I could actually go. I had a contractor coming over to look at our septic system, then a few hours until the Cats game, and then we celebrated my daughter's birthday after that.

So it was a really busy day already, and John had PM'ed me that the schedule for the trial changed. Soooo... everything worked out except I didn't get to see the trial. But hey, at least KSU put a good thumping on OSU and got a nice confidence booster before the Big 12 Tourney!

Congratulations, John, that's awesome!

Steve, did you end up taking Indy?

I ran him. He did pretty well once he figured out that there were birds in the field, and the horses and people were to be ignored. He was a lot younger than most if not all the dogs, but showed me enough to know that he can be competitive in trials.

Does anybody on here run in NSTRA?

I just happened to run across the thread and your post about NSTRA. I have a 3 year old female Brittany that I run in NSTRA trials. Anything in particular that you were wanting to know?
