dog food

I know what I'm spending is a lot...about $2.28/lb. My two labs run about 50 lbs each, so that makes a bag last a little longer. Maybe I should put em on the B.A.R.F. diet...bones and raw food. This time of year there is a ton of road kill...elk and mulies. Might need to get a walk in freezer so I can stock up!:p

There was a guy on CL that used to want freezer burned meat.

Anyone feed Hi Standard (50 pounds for 30-35 bucks)or Black gold (40 pounds for $28)? I need to switch as Iams is now $34 for 29 pounds. I'm going to take my time and find something of quality, but I have to at least get a 40 pound bag for the same price. That would make my purchases last 30% longer, and over a year could be hundreds of dollars savings.

What I'm unsure of with those two brands is that the primary ingredient is " meat" meal, instead of chicken like my Iams. Meat meal? Sounds vague and not too good.

Iams has the red bag - lamb and rice ... if you want to keep chicken off the top of the list. Been good for me.
