Dog Days

Everybody else was out chasing deer today. We slept in and walked our new favorite place without anybody else around. The birds enjoying the sun were out of the horrible places they usually hang out in and we found them out in the shorter grass. They were holding incredibly tight for late November and both the Dog and I enjoyed the best day of the season so far which has taken us to ND, SD, and MT. Even with varied bird numbers we still consider it a "dream season"

I am new to the picture thing, anyway here it is, not pictured is a bonus sharp-tail that wouldn't stay on the rock.

I like the pic, happy pup to.

I see some good heavy cold weather cover in the background, good bird country.

Happy Pup

The pup would have you believe she is always happy. About a half hour before this picture we bumped in to some point-blank grouse. After defying the impossible and missing three in a row that included a tactical reload that little yellow dog gave me the dirtiest look I have ever been given, I deserved it too. She is definitely the superior hunter between the two of us. For the record I did get the one grouse who decided that after hearing three shotgun blasts that the world didn't make any sense to him and his final act was to fly into my shotgun pattern ending all the pain he'd buried deep down from the constant bullying he endured as a young sharp-tail on the prairies of MT.
