Do your bitts swim?

both of mine go out as far as their feet touch bottom, but that's it. should they be pistol shipped?? other than that, they are outstanding upland bird dogs.

In summer I would go to the lake and get into the water. My Shorthairs hated me being somewhere without them and finally they just came in. Now, I can't keep them out of it!! Might just work for your Britt!!

My Brittany is a great swimmer, loves the water. Crashes it like a Lab.

Over the years, about half of my britts liked to swim.

One that didn't like to swim saw a quail drop into a pond. I told her to fetch. She asked me to reconsider as the water was cold. I insisted; she complained. Finally she went and got it. It was funny.

Another britt would swim after wounded waterfowl.

Are you wanting your britt to retrieve ducks?

My two Brits take dips and swim into deeper water.

My britt is a swimming fool. Not much into retrieving, but she'll swim deep water just for entertainment.

My britt took turns retrieving ducks along side my lab all the way til ice up. He would have kept going, but I did the smart thinking for him. Great swimmer and retriever.

Yeah, I'd be worrying about the cold too. Good move.

All my Britts have loved the water, some would try and catch fish others would swim after the resident lake waterfowl.
