I usually arrive 5:30 to 6:00. See you there. If you have kids, bring them as there will be lots of kids and kids only raffle tables.

A bigger crowd in Hugoton on Friday nite will be impressive...I think they had about 1800 there last year. They have a Pheasant Heaven facebook page with pictures...I even made a couple of 'em!

The Lions club puts on a good feed out at the fairgrounds for breakfast both Saturday and Sunday morning. Pancakes, eggs, suasage, bacon, juice, coffee...

Mike,

I assume you will be there this year. I hope to be, but have a doc that thinks he needs to stick his nose(well not actually his nose) in my business. My brother should be there helping on the fryers.

Mike knows what I look like, but just so you other guys know me, here I am (before the doctor gets a hold of me)--

hmmm...priorities??? haha

Maynard,

I won't be able to make it out this year. My son just bought a new house and I'll be busy helping him finish a couple of rooms in the basement and getting moved in that weekend. You'd have thought he could have planned that a little better!

I see you've upgraded your wardrobe! :)

I'm hearing great reports on the birds out that way. I'm working on getting out that way just as soon as I can.

I'm taking a bunch of kids out to Garden City this evening to hunt tomorrow moring and then doing a wingshooting clinic in Liberal on Sunday afternoon.

I'll count on you having my share of fries!

Mike

Congratulations on his new house. My planning should have been better also.

Oh, yeah, the warerobe----sorry I didn't have my Pass It On ball cap on. :)

You have a big weekend. Have fun with the kids, and most importantly is that the kids have fun and I know they will.

I'll see you another day.

I think I know but are what you folks referring to on nut fry's? Rocky Mountain Oysters? Or testes for short. How the hell can any one eat them things. yuk:D

Could it be an acquired taste? They go really good with beer, but then I haven't had a beer in thirty years, therefore, my nut consumption has been reduced.

Beer does help. At least it helped me get beyond the mental barrier the first time. Have a few beers, imagine you're eating chicken mcnuggets and you'll enjoy 'em. Tasty testies

News from the nut fry in Hugoton on Friday nite, from their Facebook page:

Pheasant Heaven Charities Inc. Awsome turn out may have had up to 2000 people !!!! Food gone by 8:15. 1000lbs of nuts - 650lbs beef -460lbs pork and 100 racks of pork ribs. Auction and raffle went great, only problem I can see is my feet hurt. Thanks to all that attended and all that volunteered to make this better than last year.

Wish I coulda been there! Was busy helping son move into new house. I hope folks left some birds in the field for me! We'll be out this week to hunt the scraps!

Mike C.

Mike,

My brother manned one of the nut fryers. He will be back today and I will get an update on the nut action in Hugoton. He called about 9AM Saturday morning and was riding with Jim Wilson. He said they hadn't seen many birds, yet.

My brother didn't hunt because of the bone cancer. He wants to hunt a few quail, if we can find him a gun with low recoil. I may get him on a deer hunt if my son gets a rifle he is smitten with, a Sako TRG-22. My son said he was putting bullet after bullet on top of the previous shot at 200 yards and it has no noticeable recoil.

Mike, hope you get into some birds at Hugoton.

My brother was tired from cooking nuts.

He told me this year there were 105 sponsors at $1,000 each for the Charities. Awesome.
