CRP species mix question

What are folks in other counties seeing for a species mix for the CRP acres they have enrolled ?

I seeded another 5 acres yesterday, beautiful conditions and now a nice rain today, should get a good stand.

We have an excellent staff at out county NRCS office, hope we can keep them. Gone are the days of maybe two or three grass species and calling it good.

I have attached the seed tags for the mix that was recommended. Seems a little excessive to me ? A little over $1900 for the 5 acres of CRP and 5 more of EQUIP. I had to seed the five acres down in three patches, kinda hard to get the seeder set but it came out right on.

I'm hundreds of miles from you, and this isn't a CRP planting. However, I worked with the NRCS guy in the county and it's based on a CRP planting we did maybe 7 years ago? I think it has more forbs than the CRP planting, but still much less variety than yours.

The thing I would change, if I were to redo the seeding, would be to see it they could replace or leave-out, the wildrye grasses. I didn't know that the "mean seeds" were such potential hazards to dogs.

That’s about the most diversity in mixes that you could get!

My pollinator CRP planting has 5 grasses and 16 forbs so you’re well above that. My CP2 planting this year has 5 grasses and just 3 forbs. Different purposes, different seed mix.
