CRP Needs You Now - Please Act

If you are for clean air, clean water, and abundant wildlife you will want to sign the petition to support CRP in the next farm bill. It literally takes 30 seconds to cast your vote for conservation here http://crpworks.org/

CRP is at a crossroads with the most recent General Signup being met with extemely high offers and an extremely low acceptance rate.

Our current farm bill caps nationwide enrollment at 24 million acres, down from the high of 39 million acres.

CRP has a tremendous track record for providing tremendous success in all areas of conservation.

CRP needs reform and I have seen first hand how CRP reform is happening and will continue to happen in the future.

Please vote and also pass this information on.

One thing is for certain. If you want pheasants, supporting CRP is a must.

Does anyone else find it odd that there are zero posts and fewer views of this important topic than the "one dog 4 days" thread?

It might be indicative to problem of habitat where hunters are primarily concerned more about dogs and gear and don't really seem too concerned about the stuff that birds originate from but complain like heck when they don't find any birds.

Good point...

Here in MN. we are actively pressing farmers, in the southern part of the state, to help clean the rivers, creeks and other streams. Several towns in southern Mn have water quality issues, some are severe.

New regulations are going to require farming setbacks from creeks and streams. I believe there are already laws on the books that address this, but are unenforced.

I think all hunters care about the environment but do little to effectuate a change. Kind of like government issues in general - let someone else figure it out...

Or maybe the CRP thing has been posted in other threads already. And they have quite a few replies and people viewing it. I signed the petition when the guy from Iowa posted it. Saw it on this site about a week before you posted it. I know its a subject of great importance and I'm for it but you're not the only one that has posted it.

Lots of views & guys saying they signed it on the pheasant hunting main page wear u also posted it...

Thats why I say tell guys to join PF & QF NWTF they don't just pump kill lots of. Birds but also preach we need habitat to have pheasants they send me yearly reminders of that topic u need habitat to have upland birds to hunt...

Chris, I saw your thread today on the Kansas site and already signed the petition. Thanks for making us aware of this important issue.

Just signed the petition. I own land and have tried to enroll in a government program but does not qualify because of no crop history. It sounds as though acceptance rates were almost zero. Hopefully the farm bill in 2018 will be more conducive to putting marginal ground into CRP

Well, since its on two discussion boards on this forum, I (and assume others) didn't find it necessary to comment on it twice.

Jim

it was a great post, and I signed it within a day of the post. sure hope everyone on this site does the same. CRP acres are critical to wildlife numbers
