crow counts

musta been asleep, the crow counts for Kansas were completed over a week ago and they for the most part ain't good, even when compared to last year. oh boy, better hope for lots of dove or maybe quail. while the counts don't really tell a whole lot, they are a serious comparator. we can I guess hope for better news when the road side survey comes out on mid sept. better get pastor john to praying, helped with the rain anyway

cheers

Didn't see the crow counts yet, but that is only part of the story.

How good was the hatch and what % survives to the fall, is a very big part of the story. We will see, but I am hunting no mater the numbers,

bird stuff

gotta get troy doing something useful and keep us up to date on this stuff. I for one don't believe that we are looking at anything but an improvement over last year in most of Kansas, maybe not much, but better. at least this year we will have some field that have cover in them, more fun than just hunting dirt. my own crow counts while turkey hunting were far and away better than the year before

cheers

Please at least capitalize me if you're going to shoot barbs:) I knew it was coming out, but didn't want to ruin the surprise. We were supposed to start the roadside counts yesterday, I'm behind. There is some hope, but little elation. Patience grasshoppers!

don't use caps on much of anything, while you may have been busting your butt, I have been sitting on mine, maybe age, maybe something else. hope it has warmed up down there, bugs and all. grayling are in my sights again. out here we lose about 4 deg. per 1000 ft, when we go into the mtn. something you ain't got

cheers

Ouch, wish we could swap! Bumped the century mark today! Dang pups are raising the white flag!

Was rough for sure, 100 and a dew point of 74 made it quite uncomfortable. Not expecting much for birds myself, spring left me little optimism, be out there with the dog anyways.

Made it to Kansas yesterday. Saw 27 crows in one field. Probably not the crows you were looking for.

Yeah, the 4 week old pups were calling foul! They were hugging the water dish and sprawled out like road kill.

Hard to believe, but crow counts are way down from last year's.

when you fall off the bottom rung of the ladder, it's not way way down, while I am able to bitch quite a bit, I expect to do slightly better this year than last year and last year was not a bust, wasn't butt deep in them either

cheers
