Crop dusting

I was driving through some pheasant country in the Texas panhandle yesterday and I saw a plane crop dusting everything. I have no idea what he was spraying, but it made me wonder how crop dusting effects the pheasant. Any thoughts?

If it was here in Iowa he would be spraying insecticide on aphids. Not a direct problem for birds but it does eliminate a lot of insects in a pretty big area. I don't know what happens if a bird eats an exposed bug.

I think it could be a contributing factor in the bird population, they are in the crop fields this time of year.
