Coming up fast

Days are getting shorter!

Saw some grouse last weekend and that flipped the switch. I went through my hunting clothes today actually!

As quickly as the season arrives, so as quickly does it go.
For that reason, a part of me does not look forward to any bird season arriving on the radar.
Could be age.

sept.15 is grouse opener up here in MN so got a about a month & a half to go but the dog will be get n worked more & more till season opener!!!

we will head up for a mixed bag hunt MN prairie grouse & ruffed grouse hunt at least 3-4 days i assume??? then a few wks later if im lucky & draw a tag i will do a MN prairie chicken hunt!!!

cant wait to get my dog on wild birds this season she is now older & more focused then last season when she was a 6 month old pup in the fields with me... prairie grouse hold so well early season so i will spend some major time in the prairie with her early this grouse season!!!

got early goose season here in MN aug.15 i think i may try that again this season been a few years but we can hunt over water now so that helps alot...??? i doubt i will hit the waterfowl hard thow my dog swims & retrieves just fine in water i need her pointing & holding birds now...

Booked a motel room yesterday for the dove opener.

Very anxious this will be the first time I ever sharptail hunt. Going in with the attitude the if we get birds our not its still better than work.

where are you going? Im going to Montana im hiring a guide for the first 3 days tthen on my own for the net few days

prairie grouse are not all that hard to find many hunters just hunt the wrong habitat not being used to hunting the birds or not doing any research prior to the hunt on what they prefer to hang in or there habits are that spells doom for a hunt... need to do a little home work on prairie grouse habits & habitat to have a successful 1st hunt id have to say...

prairie grouse hang in the prairies that simple then find the slight changes in the prairie grass heights & find the food & some water & scrub brush/trees & your golden...

a cheap DIY hunt for prairie grouse is do able for most average joes on public lands just do your scouting & home work b4 the hunt & you should be in good hands...

Yep! I'm getting a little fired up for the BIG grassland hunt.
First stretch of decent hunting weather in Sept, I'm gooooone.:)
Not to hot, not to wet.
Only about a month away now.
