How should I know? You were there! Why were they by the corn? No clue. But something made beans preferable to corn. Had to have been safer, easier, or both. If you have any reasonable guesses, let us know. Unreasonable ones too.

I think it's most likely they all wanted to end the day sitting around a campfire doing a pheasant rendition of "blazing saddles"
