Not a fan of the weird breed name dogs. Pudel pointer? Who came up with this? Sounds like a take a piss in the house breed. Viszla? Not sure I even spelled it right. Sounds like an onion variety. Munsterland? Come on, gotta be a cheese. How bout Master Hunter? Would you pick that breed? Fetching Loyals? Birdbringer? Also why in the hell do some bird dogs have a short tail? Makes no sense. It’s the only thing you can see in the cover! You heard it hear first. New LTP breed . That’s right, Long Tail Pointer.
Let's discus the Braque du Bourbonnais and the Deutch Kurzhaar Just to get on Tomahawkers nerves. :ROFLMAO:

She's a beauty, but yeah, a little to fuzzy for here. I've seen quail nerds and pics of others that are shorter coated, so not out of the question.
A little cowboy magic before the hunt and they come right out. Her coat is wired everywhere else so nothing sticks.

Nah just get a GSP like everyone else… like owning a Camaro in the early 80’s

I’d have a hard time buying a dog I couldn’t spell and would have to take night classes to learn how to pronounce.. I guess most of the names have already been Americanized. I still can’t properly pronounce Veshla and that’s an easy one

Well, as bad as I hate think about it, my old dog will be 9 this coming year. Sadly, she will be the last dog I will be training on mainly wild quail. So, as I'm contemplating a pup in a few years, the thought a cured to me that I really no longer need a dog that covers a bunch of ground. With wild birds all but gone here, all I really do is shoot some flare nares and chuckers and a couple trips to pheasant land yearly. I know I'm asking a lot but I'd like a breed that stays 40 yards or so in cover but stretches to 100 when needed. No bigger than 50 lbs. I also want an above average nose and biddable in the house with limited shedding, Grouse hunting lines from the great north? Brit? I've never owned a flusher, but the thought is intriguing. Longer coats won't work here because of the burs. I think I know the answer but what say you guys??
I would recommend a French britt. Come north you can hunt over Vera. Thinking of breeding her in 27.

425am, you getting up or just going to bed.....
Ha, you would catch that! :ROFLMAO: Truth is, last spring when I was turkey hunting every morning, the dogs thought we permanently changed our hours! Now at 4:00 sharp it's game on; Pepper parades around the bed with her blankey, Sally is standing in the hall panting and Maybel is waiting on one to try and get in bed so she can snap at them. They get that early morning treat while I'm making coffee. Then out to pee. Then the youngest, (Maybel) slams into the door and makes a big dramatic entrance, runs down the hall and jumps in bed with my wife so she can get the best spot. As we speak, (Pepper) is scratching on the door, while I'm getting the laptop set up and the sight loaded. Then the wife's big mutt (Sally) finishes up with her yard patrol to ensure everything is safe and the other two are in. Then she barks at the door. She then goes to the bedroom where a fight always ensues because Maybel doesn't want her on the bed. Wife cusses and swats at them. All goes quiet, Pepper climbs in my lap and there's 4 hours of relative peace, while I bullshit on here, look at the news and see if anyone has put anything on G.B. that I can't live without. The only times it deviates is when they surprise a coon at the bird feeder. That's a paragraph in itself. I swear it took me an hour to write this. Now I have to pee and get another cup of coffee!

Think we live in parallel worlds, just after the 5am outdoor break i go back to bed. I swear Vera is going to break our slider glass as she too like to slam the glass announcing her desire to come back in, that is only Bella isnt there first, then she politely waits for the door to be opened!

You can find a great Gordon or English setter that does all of what you’re asking. Just cut them short a few times a year and you’re golden, you won’t find a better house companion just make sure the breeder you choose has good genes.

I have been having much better luck on Guns International these days. I believe the selections are of higher quality and you don’t always necessarily pay those high Gun Broker fees.

I have had them all. Drat, PP, ES, GS, GSP, WH, Visla, Spinoni, more than one of most of them. The PP that I had was a terrific pet/house dog, but I have had 3 buddys that have had them & they all had terrible luck with PPs. I have had over 20 Brits & over 20 EPs. I am shocked that nobody suggested an English Pointer. Very good house dog, like an old hound. I have had 2 40 lb females. If you can grouse hunt the hills and strip mines of southern Ohio, Ky, WV & PA, they do not hunt too far!

not spend real money on a short tailed dog. If you want to discuss advantages/disadvantages of each breed, pls private msg me

I would make sure you took a good look at Foreste’ s French Britt , good looking specimen, very tight coat , I have owned two and have been happy with the results , very loyal

Short coated setters are on my radar. I don't mind doing some de burring, but all the Gordons I've seen are way to wooly for the burs here.
