Chicken hunting with the Boys

My long time friend and hunting buddy invited me to go with his boys on a Prairie Chicken hunt / dove hunt Out west , e had a great time talking about , birds , dogs , cover , how fast his boys are growing up .


Here is the first chicken off the trip taken over a solid point.




We added a dove shoot over a water hole , it always fun when it works out .




Here is a chicken that came in close enough for along pass shot when as we were wrapping up , best shooting I have seen from a 13 year old on doves and pass shooting a chicken at distance .



We new that there were a dog town or two where we would be hunting and we were lucky enough to get permission .


With a lot off walking and trigger time made for some tired boys on our way home.

I really wanted to go Saturday but ended up not going. Just didn't wanna make the trip out and back same day with only 4 hrs of sleep.

Thanks for the replies , it was fun to get the boys out and see the smiles on there face when doves came in and they would connect .

The chickens were a challenge as they normally are getting up just beyond shotgun range .

All fun and nice to get the dogs out to !!!
