This is my Chesapeake Tanner. He learned this all on his own. We kept finding the car door standing open one winter and my wife blamed me for leaving it open. I told her I wasn't doing it. I finally caught him doing it one morning, well I watched peeking through the window from the house.

He will check every door until he finds the one that's unlocked. If I'm leaving the yard. He will run along side the car and keep opening the door until I either stop and let him in or I get backed out and finely get away from him. I look in the mirror as I drive away to a very disappointed dog.
