Call me crazy but, today we hunted about 16 miles of walking and only saw one rooster. We didnt shoot him, and let him fly and to me and my family thats a good days hunt. I'd do it over and over again. Just love being out with my dog and family.
 
That's what hunting is about to me too.. I enjoy getting out there and just enjoying the great out doors with family, dog, kids... But do enjoy killing animals, eating there meat.. Sounds like something ted nugent would say.. But thats what its all about.
 
I don't mind walking a bunch and not taking any birds. !6 miles and only seeing one bird, I probably wouldn't hunt there anymore. My dog, and myself, get pretty bored not seeing anything. If I see nothing but hens all day, it is still fun. But seeing nothing, you guys can have that.
 
Just curious? What type habitat are you hunting seeing 1 rooster in 16 miles of walking.
 
i love walking hiking ETC. but 16 miles for 1 bird that kinda bad lol

i would look into hunting new hunting grounds it has got to get better then 16 miles for 1 rooster???

man come to MN we have better habitat then that i could not see anybody walking 16 miles in good MN habitat & only seeing 1 rooster!!! its not SD but better then what ur working with??? try farther west in NE/KS it has to get better for you sometime soon
