Boot Toe Protector

I always wear out the leather toes of my boots. Or the threading on the toe.

Has anyone used any boot toe protector.

I've coated the toes of my boots with a two-part urethane product that's marketed for repair of conveyor belts. It's definitely ugly, but it definitely works.

My current boots are Danner Pronghorns (old style). I wore them for a season without the toe protector to scuff up the surface a little. I thought it would promote adhesion of the urethane. I went a little overboard applying to coating, carrying the coating too far back and applying it too thick. It changed the "flex" of the boot, concentrating the flexing action in a small area. As a result the stitching in that area has started to give. If I threw the boots away today I'd feel like I got my money's worth out of them, but they still have several seasons in them.

I'll do it again to my next pair, but I won't coat such a large area.

I've been using Tuff Toe on my work and hunting boots for years. The stuff works great!
