Before plots ... state school lands were all we had after WPAs and GMAs were visited. 30 years ago we had a hunting atlas and plat books, now it is all on your phone.

I have good success hitting the taller shrubs, too…5’, 8’ tall…the size of a phone booth or a small car, especially when it’s sunny and warm, but even when it’s not…they fly to them when bumped oftentimes.

We used to shoot ALOT of sharptails in the woody draws along the Little Missouri River breaks. Warmer the better.

Sharptails like shade in heat. They like treetops and bushtops when the grass is wet.

Cool and windy they revert to short grass prairie. North wind. Sit in the sun just under the hill tops.
