Best dog food for the money?

I've had good luck with the grain free and firm stools. My pup also gets some Dannon Greek yogurt a few times a week. I think it's good for her gut and she really loves it. She especially likes the blueberry and the banana flavors. I'm feeding taste of the wild with good results. I also feed cooked carrots and broccoli. She just loves cooked vegetables.

That is good to hear. I am hoping that the grain free solves the issue. If it does I will be starting a new thread specifically asking what grain free foods people like.

a bone in the stew

currently on the internet is a recall going on that affects both iams and eukanuba wow!! the only place i am going with this is that it does happen and it is not just diamond that it happens to. what do you do about it, make your own i guess and be careful about what you think the standards are for quality

cheers

I am actually contemplating going to the BARF diet, especially if my dog is going to require a grain free food.

i chose to go with Fromm. I essentially boiled it down to Blue Buffalo or Fromm based on what I read on a variety of sites and from what my vet said. When I went to pick up my dog from the breeder/trainer he told me he fed Fromm, so that made my decision easy. It is nice being able to buy food from him for cost and when the dog goes there, I don't have to take a bag of food along.

I have 2 more months of food left and then he gets switched over to adult formula, so I may switch to BB. only reason being is there isn't anyplace close to me that has Fromm and lots of places now carry BB.

I did order my last food from www.chewy.com. I was very happy with the transaction. If I decide to stay with Fromm I will sign up for the auto delivery and just have a bag dropped off at my door every 4 or 5 weeks. sure beats driving a half hour to the pet store, and their prices are a lot better.

I use Fromm too. Good product and I have one very finicky dog that will only eat certain food and he like Fromm. My other will eat a turd if it's in his bowl.

Dogs work hard, are in great shape and no issues with Fromm since I started using it a few years ago. Have fed all sorts of other brands but finicky dog prefers this brand.

I really like Fromm. They are a family owned, wisconsin based company. Their ingredients and facility are both USDA approved, and their customer service is top notch!

as mentioned, I was having soft stool issues on the Puppy gold, so I emailed Fromm. My dog is super active and I am having a hard time putting weight on him. They recommended the Four Star line, and in particular the grain free stuff.

Well, his first feeding was Saturday evening and on sunday his first deposit was PERFECT! I couldn't believe it! no more soft stool, and it appears that he is maintaining his weight, maybe even gaining a little, even with a slightly lower amount of food.

Fromm refunded me for the bag that I had open, and chewy.com just refunded me for the unopened bag. chewy.com isn't even making me send in a copy of the UPC or send the bag back! They ask that I donate the food to a local shelter, so that is what I will do.

fromm and chewy.com = :10sign:

Dog food

We raise about a quarter acre of sweetcorn for the grandsons to sell. It was late this year because of our wet spring, but we just did a first picking today. I cooked up a couple ears for my dog and she just loves it. I butter it but hold on the salt and pepper. I really have her going on the vegetables. She took a liking to them as a young pup. Grain free diet and cooked vegetables, with a little Greek yogurt thrown in for variety and my dog is happy and her coat is thick and shiny, and she poops bricks.

My current 3 bird dogs love sweet corm, Raw, cooked or buttered. :)

I'm glad to hear that. I think they like a little variety sometimes, and it might be good for them. You get a little of that, "so what are we havin' tonight" look out them once in a while, but that's ok.

Fromm makes American Natural Premium (Cedarburg Wisc.) which i feed and agree about the quality of their feed.

Priced similar to many of the leading brands. More important, the dogs do very well on it.

LOL your a sick man.:thumbsup::D

My buddies and I have been feeding our dogs this for about the last 6 years.

Great food, no stomach problems, and the price is not to be beat.

They have several levels to chose from

Not sure if they are everywhere or just here in the mid-west but give it a try

around 25.00 for 50lbs

I'm glad your dogs are doing well on this food but looking at the analysis and ingredients I think there are a lot better foods on the market to choose from. Not much for meat and a lot of corn. 50 cents per pound is very inexpensive but I think you are getting what you pay for.

Kind of like the people I see in Walmart loading up the bags of Ol' Roy. Worst dog food on the market. The Humane Society where I use to live would not even accept Ol' Roy when donated. Not saying UltraAdvantage falls into that category but it's a low grade food. However, if your dogs are doing well on it that great for you.

Look into nutrisource. A lot of local hunters feed this. Myself, and my father both feed it to our current dogs and dogs past. Also, when I picked up my last pup our breeder also recommended it.

Not a low grade dog food at all, try it then give an opinion that you are informed on. I would never feed my dog anything close to Old Roy. Just cause you pay a bunch doesn't mean its good. But I guess that's why the sell Lincoln and Cadillac trucks some people like to pay more for the sake of a lable.
