Best day in a long time!!

Hunted a private ranch in New Mexico yesterday and it was fantastic! No big write up here it was great habitat and loaded with quail. I’m not making any predictions for the rest of the state yet but what a start!

So it is very tough for desert quail is SE Az. This year . Been out 8 days , too warm in The afternoon for me and the pups. Lost 3 , eaten 2! Good thing we have access to a grocery store!

Kind of what I’m finding. I’ve lost a couple runners even with good dogs. Lots of miles between covies. The good news is the campgrounds are pretty empty. People hunt a couple days and leave.

I would kill for a cold front, we haven’t had a day stay under mid 50’s. Makes scenting conditions brutal mixed with a sw wind!
