BAD NEWS for the gathering

First, I'd like to say that in this economy, I'm thankful to have a job. Next I'd like to let all of you know that it doesn't look like I'll make the January gathering in Dodge. I know I started this for the most part. I was very excited to get out there and make some new friends. I also wanted to meet up with a guy that I'd been trying to meet up w/ all season but couldn't b/c of my work schedule.

So, w/ one of my guys out for cancer surgery and the other one leaving to move out to W KS, my boss stated that I'd have the fortune of working every day of the coming month:mad: January is my favorite month to hunt, but New Year's Day is probably the only day I'll have off all month.

I sure hope you guys still meet up out there for the 1st annual gathering. If nothing else just to set the stage for future gatherings. I suspect it will be a great deal of fun and provide networking opportunities for all. Assuming I'll be able to make it in the future, it would be great if everyone could discuss other possible locations for next year.

My apologies to everyone that was planning to make it. I wouldn't have suggested it if I'd seen this coming. If I can manage to at least get Saturday off, I'll still drive out just to visit, but I don't know what to expect at this time.

Good luck to all who make it out to the fields this month. W/ the right weather conditions, late season in KS should be excellent this season. Lots of birds out there and the middle of the season was pretty warm and dry, so there should still be plenty left:thumbsup:

Don't you love maintenance work. :)

It is neat:rolleyes: at times. I mean, I like the work/challenge, but the scheduling surprises get to be a grind. Glad someone understands first-hand what it is like working in this industry! I hate making plans only to break them. This season it has happened repeatedly. I made plans with several people this season and was able to actually be there about half the time. This one bothers me the most....Oh, and the chance of me being able to drive out Saturday just to visit just got shot to Shnit. We're running production that day b/c of a project scheduled for the next week, so I'll be working a full shift that day:mad:. Any of you NR's that wanna swing through Alma on your way down I-70 can get a free cup of coffee or a frosty brew on me. Doesn't matter if you're on your way out or back, I'll make it a point to meet w/ you. I'll have almost every evening available around that time.

I hope everyone that was planning to attend still does. Enjoy it gents:cheers:

Haven't you heard the song?" Take this job and shove it" :10sign::10sign::10sign:

@KB: Sorry to hear you can't make it dude, I was really looking forward to meeting you! I understand completely - still "planning on" trying to make it myself, but not 100% either & wouldn't be my first busted-plans by a long shot. With my endless row of circumstances over the last several years, I've pretty much had to learn how to just bump-n-run, live on the fly & get in my licks whenever I can (so far, that's meant only one lick this year & hoping that's about to change tomorrow if they don't close the freeway down overnite).
