well...made a comeback today......went to a
'proven" spot first this morning....Ace pointed 2 coveys and a single...killed 4 birds there....then struggled to find some new areas with the SLOPPY roads...couldn't get to alot of places but did find some new areas....he pointed another covey and couple singles at other areas....ran my older dog at last area and we caught a covey feeding in bean stubble...they flushed wild when we rounded the bend of a creek....oh well...seed for next year....had an AWESOME day....finished with 5 birds shot over Ace. wind was BRUTAL today as well .....gotta keep after 'em!

That was a nice day! Did you see any pheasants or Prairie Chickens today at all?

I worked 14 hours :(
 
I saw exactly 1 rooster pheasant today....just before dark while I was driving around looking for spots to hunt in the morning.....it flew across the road in front of me and landed just on side of road next to me and ran into a field that was POSTED with about 250 signs...lol first pheasant I've seen in this area in 3 years!
 
last year I saw a TON of prairie chickens in same areas I was hunting today.....this year not a single one....I was hunting here also few weeks ago and didn't see any then either.......:eek:

That is an awesome day!

I'm kinda surprised I haven't been seeing chickens since it got cold. I suppose they're getting into the feed early, while I'm still chasing birds off the roost. I was seeing them regularly in the early season:confused:
 
What a great hunt you had. Thanks for posting the excellent photos. Lot of goooood eating there.
