Aspiration pneumonia

Have any of you dealt with this? Murry was just diagnosed with it. Fifteen days of predisone, plus thirty days of antibiotic injections has been prescribed with review in five days to see if progress is being made, if not off to K-State School of Vet Medicine.

WOW...my heart goes out for Murry...keep us informed!

Keep the word coming, hope you find a solution.

So what you are stating is "don't give dog aspirin?"

Aspiration is different than aspirin. Aspiration pneumonia is caused by inhaling something.

Keep us posted Maynard!!!!! Hope all goes well and you don't have to go to K-State!!!!

Thanks guys.

The vet thinks Murry likely inhaled something like a weed seed while running at the ranch.

He is much more active tonight. Suspect the predisone is helping and his appetite is improved.

Drug of choice by my vet is enrofloxacin(Baytril).

Why your recommendation?

So he had weed and inhaled? That Murry Dog is a bad, bad, dog...:) Just kidding and you know I love Murry! How is he doing today?

Murry cannot tell a lie, yes he inhaled. :)

He is more active and has some of his appetite back, mostly for what I am eating though.:):)

Of a morning he has this nagging cough, like he has something in his throat. The rest of the day he seldom coughs. I am keeping him inside and out of the elements.

Thanks for your well wishes.

How is everything there with family, dogs, birds, school, football team??

Oh, any new gun purchases?
