I would be cautiously optomistic. I would say not what we hoped, and it sure seemed like in the spring, nice and dry, little birds around, but the long dry spell hurt. But not nearly as bad as the past couple of years! Those years were so bad I thought my dogs would get old and die before we got a ressurance. Now I am optomistic for the future. I pray for a dry spring!
Been out several times. Got a couple hotips on a new spot I had never hunted. Hunted hard all day and found a covey at the end of the day on a different place alltogether that looked terrible. First place looked outstanding. On the bright side my go to spots have been better than the last few years. 4 covey found one day with good size coveys. 3 another day, different spot. Pretty large coveys, although we only killed a few birds. Only been skunked once this year and it was incredibly windy and only hunted half day. Been pretty good compared to the past.
no way there were lots of birds in missouri this year for quail especially in the nw corner even farmers telling me of seeing lots more i thought last year was poor but ive had more success in mo than ks lol now thats pitiful
Missouri is a big state. I never went to NW MO this year to hunt, my opinion is just on my private and public spots! They both had fewer number of birds than last year...
