Always sitting by a puddle waiting for incoming dove on Sept. 1. After that, maybe after duskies in western WY. Best game bird I ever ate was an early season CO dusky, so sweet from the berries.

I live in Crested Butte, CO so 5 miles out the dirt road past my house chasing those Blues(Dusky)!

I'm in the middle of an archery elk hunt right now. Grouse and chukar are still 4 weeks away here. Pheasant and quail start for me the second week in October. It's close enough that I can feel it.
