You may recall: 20 GA browning auto accidentally fired when loading.

Gunsmith (clerk) called and said the gun was ready...$48 - new firing pin and return spring. Some of you may encounter a similar experience with your Browning shotgun. Will post more later when I have an opportunity to test the gun to see if misfires again.

Really sounds like a design weakness. Not real inspiring from a manufacturer we all hold in high esteem. Would like information on how much the gun was used prior to the incident, is it a legitimate wear issue to be aware of or premature wear from poor design. In any case not a very satisfactory state of affairs.

Glade you got the gun fixed and it wasn't to expensive. Thank you for posting what the problem with the gun was.

That is a pretty scary situation. I assume this was due to some wear.
What is going to prevent this from happening down the road?

Called Browning Cust. Service and the fellow asked for the serial number, which I didn't have at the moment, as the gun is in transit. He said send in the info to Browning...

Asked him if this has happened to others and he indicated it had - those with worn firing pin and associated springs.

Wouldn't you think there would be a kind of public warning issued by Browning? At the least, a few remarks in the owner's booklet.

Go figure.
