A5 20ga problem

Shot a round of sporty's with this new (May 2025) gun. After the second round was fired, and the gun now empty, the bolt should be open/back. It was closed all the time...any ideas why? Thanks!

Don't think so...both hands are elsewhere; front stock and in the trigger housing. AI internet advice suggests several possibilities. Cleaned the gun again this morning and the stock bolt was a little loose which may have affected the operation of the gun.
 
I have one of those, I really like it, it's extremely light, and it's a good looking gun. I have the 26 inch barrel, I haven't had any problems with it. I might try to rub out a turkey with it...
 
I really wanted to like the new A5 but some people have problems with them. I almost pulled the trigger on a new A5 Sweet 16 Lightening last month but couldn't get past the ugly receiver and the some of the negative reviews of it on other forums. Decided on a new Retay Ace-R Upland Ultra light. At least if it is a dud it is only a $1000 dud.

I agree it’s an ugly gun. Really wanted to like it, went with a new Benelli m2 instead. It has the profile of the original but not the soul

I have the new M2 myself in a 20 gauge. I like mine. Kind of made up my mind to just get the new Benelli Montefeltro Ultra Light but a fellow turned me on to the new Retay Ace R Upland Ultralight. I thought the Sweet 16 felt more like a 12 gauge compared to my Benelli's.

You have made a mistake. You should have bought the Browning.
 
You didn’t buy the wrong gun. Relay makes great shotguns. I own a Retay Masai Mara in 12 gauge. Best field shotgun I have ever owned by far in 50 years of hunting. My only complaint is the pistol grip isn’t for me, I like a Prince of Wales grip. People like goose love to bash them but have no idea what they are talking about and have never seen one, and of course never shot one. I think it all stems from it being a Turkish made gun. You bought the right gun. From what I heard the A5s are jamming too much and pissing guys off. Plus you saved probably around 800 bucks. Good luck and good hunting.

Has that A5 look to it and you can change out the recoil pad for LOP adjustment. Along with the shims they are easy to fit. They are supposed to start shipping in June. The Benelli Montefeltro's have a much slimmer feel than the Browning A5's. I have a Maxus 2 that I bought new 3 years ago. It loads easy and is the softest shooting gun ever. But it has jammed a few times on me dove hunting. I shot a turkey with it last week using 1 3/4 ounce 3 inch shells and never felt a thing.

And you could not solve it by shimming it? My M2 shot high as well, which is how they are set up from the factory. That is why they give you the shims. If your gun is shooting to the left, it is shooting left because that is where you are aiming it. Which is why you have shims to fit the gun to you.

Not enough space here to describe what I went through with that gun...glad I got rid of it!
